Sixth Pay Commission: Now, MoD lets down armed forces

Even as a high-level committee comprising three Cabinet ministers is examining the four “core issues” that the armed forces have raised after the Sixth Pay Commission report was released, a fresh controversy has erupted. Sixth Pay Commission: Revenue deficit in first half exceeds 08-09 estimates

New Delhi, Oct 31: The government finances are deteriorating as the revenue deficit at the end of the first half has gone up to 78,313 crore, which is almost 142 percent of the Budget estimate for the entire year, reveals the data released by Controller General of Accounts (CGA).

The revenue deficit, the difference between the revenue receipts and current expenditure, was estimated at Rs 55,184 crore for the entire year. (more…)

Sixth Pay Commission: Interns of MAMC seek pay revision

new delhi : Nearly 180 interns of Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC) practicing at Lok Nayak Hospital went on an indefinite strike on Thursday demanding revision of salary. Doctors claim that Central and the state government are doing nothing about the issue. Other medical colleges are likely to join the strike on Friday.

Doctors say that as per Government of India rules, salaries of interns has to be revised every two years but the government has not revised salaries for the past five years. “We are not getting our due share. In an RTI reply, we learnt that as per rules, the revision of salary has to be done in every two years and interns are entitled for 40% of total emoluments given to a junior resident,” said Dr Abhishek Bansal, representative of interns at MAMC and LN Hospital. Sixth Pay Commission: States urge central government to share pay hike burden

Chandigarh, Nov 3 (IANS) Finance ministers of various states Monday urged the central government to bear half their additional financial burden, caused by the Sixth Pay Commission recommendations.

‘The union government should come forward to minimise the impact of its Sixth Pay Commission (recommendations). At least 50 percent of the additional financial burden on the states due to this should be borne by the government of India,’ Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal told reporters after a meeting of the empowered committee of state finance ministers here.
