Isha Ambani is youngest billionaire heiress

Isha Ambani, daughter of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani, is the youngest of the top ten billionaire heiresses ranked by Forbes.

The 16-year-old was ranked second in the list announced by the magazine recently. She is in the final year of her International Baccalaureate programme. Apart from academics, where she has been the recipient of several awards, she has varied interests in sports, arts, business and economy and international issues. (more…)

AERO INDIA – 2009 MUST SET BENCHMARK FOR AIR SHOWS AROUND THE WORLD: ANTONY

Nearly 600 armament companies from home and abroad are expected to take part in the 7th Edition of the Biennial International Aerospace Exposition, popularly known as Aero India – 2009 to be held at the Air Force Station Yelahanka in Bangalore from 11th to 15th February 2009. Armament Majors from several countries including the United States, the UK, Russia, France, Germany, Italy, Israel, Belgium, Brazil, Spain, Ukraine and The Netherlands have confirmed their participation in this Asia’s premier Air Show. Nearly, 330 companies from 50 countries abroad and 230 from India will set up their exhibits over an indoor display area of 32,000 sq meters and an additional 5,000 sq meters outdoors. In addition there will be 60 chalets. Nearly 100 different types of aircraft – both civil and military, will be on display. (more…)

Bangalore second fastest growing city

BANGALORE: The price of progress could get steeper. Teeming cities like Bangalore will have to tread in caution between development and disorder, if a new study by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) is any indication. Rapid urbanisation is hampering the economic infrastructure and leaving vital services at risk in Asian cities, the study says.

The report, ‘Managing Asian Cities’, shows that among Indian cities with 50 lakh or more residents, Bangalore is the second fastest growing in terms of population. Bangalore, with an annual population growth rate of 2.8%, is next only to Delhi (3.5%). (more…)

Shilpa Shetty raises 63,000 pound for charity

Shilpa Shetty who was awarded the Global Diversity award managed to raise 63,000 pounds for charity on the gala night.

The star event of the night was when Shilpa auctioned her kisses for a cool 12, 500 pounds to an admirer.

The actress won the prestigious ‘Global Diversity’ award along with British racing driver Lewis Hamilton for making significant contribution to the public appreciation and understanding of diversity.

She also helped the organizers to raise 63,000 pounds for a charity – the Silver Star Appeal – that runs mobile diabetes assessment units

Stepping in to enthuse the charity auction, the Bollywood actress climbed up to the stage, took the mike and told the audience that the winner would get a “kiss from me”.

But Shilpa was quick to add, “It will be on the cheek. I don’t want my effigies burnt again.” (more…)
